{"id":5003206,"date":"2015-12-16T22:33:46","date_gmt":"2015-12-17T06:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aadev22.local\/?post_type=aa_glossary&#038;p=5003206"},"modified":"2023-03-12T12:41:02","modified_gmt":"2023-03-12T19:41:02","slug":"information-radiators","status":"publish","type":"aa_glossary","link":"https:\/\/agilealliance.org\/glossary\/information-radiators\/","title":{"rendered":"Information Radiators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cInformation radiator\u201d is the generic term for any of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/xprogramming.com\/xpmag\/BigVisibleCharts\">a number<\/a> of handwritten, drawn, printed, or electronic displays that a team places in a highly visible location, so that all team members, as well as passers-by, can see the latest information at a glance: count of automated tests, velocity, incident reports, continuous integration status, and so on.<\/p>\n<h2>Also Known As<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>a related term, nearly synonymous, is \u201cBig Visible Chart\u201d<\/li>\n<li>more generally, one speaks of \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/agilexp.com\/informativeworkspace\/\">informative workspaces<\/a>\u201c<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Expected Benefits<\/h2>\n<p>Intensive use of information radiators conveys two messages in addition to the information itself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the team has nothing to hide from its visitors (customers, stakeholders\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>the team has nothing to hide from itself: it acknowledges and confronts problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main benefit of the practice is therefore to promote responsibility among the team members.
